Deborah D Harrington
Silver City, New Mexico

Artist Statement: Deborah's Clothesline Art© sculptures are based on contrasting textures and use of space. The hard, dark, solid metals of the clothelines contrast with the soft, light, translucent materials of the dresses. And the arrangement of the materials in and on the metal creates a wonderful playfulness between the negative and positive space.

Deborah's cigar box art is based on birds of the southwest, with the colors and textures of the birds forming from colors, labels and structure of each cigar box. She attempts to capture the essence of each bird in her contemporary style of painting. A majority of the cigar boxes are painted in acrylic and occasionally in collage form.

Artist Bio: Deborah grew up in Texas, and has lived in Los Angeles, Boston, Minneapolis and New Mexico. Her formal arts training began in Houston and later continued in Dallas where she was also an intern docent at the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts. Recently relocated to Silver City, New Mexico, Deborah continues her art training and works in her studio at home.
